"For as by one man's disobedience many were made sinners, so by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous."- Roman 5:19.
Since a year ago, I had been struggling with one question regarding my identity in Christ. Am I a sinner or righteous in Christ? Today, while reading the book of Romans, I got my answer. I gave thanks to God for the great revelation that he showed me from the scripture. It was not my disobedience that made me a sinner, but because of one man’s disobedience, I was made a sinner. Who was that man? The very first man “Adam”. I was born a sinner. I was unknown about any kinds of sin when I was a child. As I was growing up, I was hunted by this question several times that how did I become a sinner without doing any sin? As a child, I didn’t know anything and didn’t get any answer to my question, but the reality was, it was not my action that made me a sinner. It was by Adam’s action (Disobedient) that made me a sinner. I was born in the same bloodline of Adam. His action affects all human nature. People are sinners not because they sinned, but they sinned because they are a sinner.
For as through one man’s disobedient many were made sinners, but God is the God of justice. He knows what is fair and what is unfair. That's why God provide his own son so that through him we would receive his righteousness and be made righteous. I was made a sinner because of Adam’s disobedience. By the same token, I was made righteous because of faith in Jesus’s obedience. When I was in Adam, my identity was a sinner; but coming to Christ, my identity changed; I was made righteous. And yes, in Christ I am righteous. Sinners commit sin, and the righteous do right. It was not my right doing that made me righteous, but it was Jesus’ obedience that made me righteous. All I need to do is just receive his righteousness in Faith.
Dear friends, are you struggling with the same question? Are you still trying to earn his righteousness? Today, I want to encourage you that if you have faith in his Obedience, bible promised that you will be made righteous. Focus in his obedience.
