June 2nd- Feeding on Jesus
John 6:57
“As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.”
Normally, in our life, we physically eat three to four times a day to survive. Our body needs a nutrition on the daily basis to function smoothly. Consequences of our health will be directly proportional to the things we are feeding on. In the above verse, Jesus was saying that he was sent by the Father, so we could feed on him and live healthy and wholesome in spirit.
When Jesus said “I am the bread of life”, he literally wants us to feed on him in our daily life since we need bread to stay alive. We don’t buy bread from the market to store or just to look at it, but to feed on it daily. Jesus calls himself food and drink of life, and we die without food and drink. How do we partake Jesus daily then? It is simpler than we think. We need to have an intimate relationship with him, we need to meditate the word of God, aka spiritual food, and stay connected with the God’s people.
In John 15:5, he said he is the true vine, and we are his branches. If we are connected with him, we will bear fruits, but without him, we are nothing. Branches have to stay connected with vine tree in order to live as well as to bear fruits. Every nutrition they need comes from the vine tree. Apart from the tree, they are dead and dry. Today, I would like to encourage all the God’s beloved to feel on Jesus and stay connected with him. We might be alive physically, but we dead and dry in spirit without him. If we feed on Jesus daily and stay connected with him like branches of the vine tree, we will have the life inside us, and the dry leave of our lives will slowly fade away.
